When you're after learning English through different techniques a common technique- listening to English songs might help you in this aspect. However, it's hard to select modern English songs and listen to them. When there are fast raps and autotune with no literary meanings it'll be wasting of time listening to them. What if you've already known some good English songs that can teach you some good English after lisping them. Some ESL teachers may have a different point of view about 'Listening to English songs for learning English'. You need to keep that in your mind, it's not about learning a language it's about learning the culture and living in it. If you can't understand the English clulture it's heard to act as an English speaking people and saying their language. Don't bring examples of Indian dialects. It's a kind of some fossilizations that is driving our generation far away to learn better English rather than adopting a different culture. Indian accent is from the people who worked for British Raj during the British rule in subcontinent till 1947. Why a new learner should adopt the dialect which has less than 300 years of history. On the other hand, American English and British English are ruling over the world in any context.
I prefer the British accent rather than the American accent. Though I've no problem with other authentic (English speaking countries - L1) English dialects eg. Australian, Canadian, American.
